Dr. Vivian Hernandez-Trujillo is a board-certified pediatric allergist and immunologist and serves as the chief for the Section of Allergy & Immunology and director of the Pediatric Allergy & Immunology Fellowship Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York. Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo completed her pediatric residency program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in allergy and immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center through the University of Tennessee in Memphis. Her clinical interests include anaphylaxis, food allergy, suspected or confirmed primary immunodeficiency disorders, recurrent infections, drug allergy, urticaria, angioedema, hereditary angioedema, atopic dermatitis, stinging insect hypersensitivity/ venom allergy, allergic rhinitis, and asthma.
 
Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is board certified in general pediatrics and allergy and immunology. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and American Academy of Pediatrics. She is an active member of the Clinical immunology Society and Florida Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her dedication, academic achievement, and accomplishments.

Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo has conducted basic laboratory research, made presentations nationally and internationally, and published numerous articles on the topics of primary immunodeficiency disease, food allergy, and anaphylaxis. Her interest and focus on prevention has resulted in extensive community service and participation in health fairs. In 2022, she was awarded the Woman in Allergy Annual Award at the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology National Meeting.

In her role as chief, Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is responsible for setting strategy, providing medical leadership, overseeing clinical care, quality initiatives, teaching and research, as well as promoting professionalism and a culture of excellence for the Section of Allergy & Immunology. Her recent work in healthcare disparities, primary immunodeficiency disorders, anaphylaxis and food allergy has resulted in the development of patient educational resources in collaboration with many national organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, Allergy & Asthma Network, Food Allergy Education and Research and the Immune Deficiency Foundation. 

Dr. Hernandez-Trujillo is employed by  Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
