Robert Buckley, MD
Medical Director, Epilepsy Surgery Dr. Robert Buckley is a board-certified neurosurgeon and serves as medical director of Epilepsy Surgery for the Nicklaus Children’s Neuroscience Institute. A graduate in biochemistry, molecular biology, and economics from the University of New Mexico, Dr. Buckley earned his medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He then completed his neurological surgery residency at the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Seattle Children’s Hospital. His clinical interests encompass epilepsy surgery, pediatric neurotrauma, transitional/adult congenital care, and neuro-oncology. He is skilled in advanced surgical techniques such as stereotactic laser ablation for difficult-to-treat epilepsy and deep-seated brain lesions.
  Before joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Buckley served as an attending neurosurgeon at both Harborview Medical Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital, where he was also associate director of the neurological surgery residency program. His prior experience includes service as chief of neurological surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, where he was recognized with multiple U.S. Army commendations for his leadership and clinical excellence.
  In his role as medical director, Dr. Buckley is responsible for setting the strategy for Epilepsy Surgery, as well as overseeing clinical care, quality metrics, teaching, research and fiscal planning.
  Dr. Buckley is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He is an active member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications advancing the field of pediatric neurosurgery. 
  Dr. Buckley is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
