Alejandro Diaz, MD

Dr. Alejandro Diaz is chief of the Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS) Section of Endocrinology and director of the Division of Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. He then completed a residency in pediatrics at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York-Presbyterian Hospital. His clinical interests include management of children with conditions affecting the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, abnormal growth, early or late pubertal development, adrenal disorders, disorders of sex development, and diabetes.

Dr. Diaz is board certified in both general pediatrics and pediatric endocrinology. He is a member of the Endocrine Society and Pediatric Endocrine Society. Dr. Diaz has been published in numerous medical journals and presented at conferences both nationally and globally. He has also contributed chapters to medical textbooks and frequently provides commentary to the media as a subject-matter expert.

Dr. Diaz is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the physician-led multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Nicklaus Children's Hospital offers a complete array of diagnostic, treatment and consulting services for infants, children and adolescents with endocrine disorders. The care team is dedicated to fulfilling the medical and support needs of children and their families through a multidisciplinary approach that has helped children from around the world. Consultations with the division’s board-certified endocrinologists are offered at the hospital’s main campus near Coral Gables, as well as at select Nicklaus Children’s outpatient centers situated from southern Miami Dade to Martin counties.
